Pre-Departure & On-Arrival COVID-19 Test

• All short-term foreign travellers are required to have COVID-19 travel insurance for their COVID-19-related medical and hospitalisation costs in Malaysia, with a minimum coverage of US$20,000 (approx. RM90,000). This applies to all short-term foreign travellers regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination or recovery status.

• All travellers aged 7 years old and above must provide a negative accepted COVID-19 test result taken within 2 days of departure. These tests can be either:
  a) RT-PCR;
  b) RT-PCR test OR a RTK-Antigen professional test (RTK-Ag) for travellers arriving from Singapore;
  c) RTK-Antigen professional test (RTK-Ag) if the traveller recently recovered from COVID-19 (within 6 to 60 days before departure).

• If your pre-departure test result is positive, or inconclusive:
  a) please postpone your travel and do not go to the airport. You will not be allowed to check in or board your flight.
  b) Seek advice from your local health authority.

• If you have recovered from COVID-19 within 6 to 60 days before your scheduled flight:
  a) You have to undertake a RTK-Antigen professional test (RTK-Ag) within 2 days of departure.
  b) You should also provide proof of previous infection at check-in. The certificate should be written in English, or be supported with a certified translation.
  Type of proof required:
  a) COVID‑19 positive result certificate stating the date (must be within 6 to 60 days of the flight).
  b) A doctor’s letter stated the person had COVID‑19 but is now recovered and is not considered to be infectious for travellers who were hospitalised due to COVID-19.

• On-arrival testing
  a) All travellers aged 7 years old and above must undertake a RTK-Antigen professional test (RTK-Ag) within 24 hours of arrival at any private health facility, including outside of airports / terminals.
  b) Travellers who failed to undertake the on-arrival test within 24 hours of arrival will be issued with a Digital Home Surveillance Order (HSO) until the test is taken.

• If tested positive, please refer to the COVID-19 case management protocol, as follows:
  I feel unwell
  I am COVID-19 Positive Case
  I am a close contact

• The test result will be uploaded to your MySejahtera app by the health facility.
